Bank statements are usually posted to you, or available to download from your bank’s internet banking platform. They usually have the following information about your account

  • Your full name and current address
  • Bank account number
  • A statement period (indicating the start and finish date for the period it covers
  • A list of transactions within the statement period
  • Opening and closing balances

Sometimes statements are not issued very often, and you might not have one that is recent (within 30 days) and so you can get a transaction listing as well.

A transaction history is a record of every transaction within a certain period of time. You can get a transaction history from your online banking or by requesting one from your bank’s local branch. It will usually show the following:

  • List of transactions
  • Running balance
  • Bank account number
